Detail Source of Information
Born:
Aug. 12, 1874
The 1900 Federal Census says that Bertha was born Aug. 1874 in Wisconsin [see below for more details from that census]. Her Social Security record (per ancestry.com) says she was born Aug. 12, 1874.
Parents:
Karl Krüger and
Henriette Mietz
See marriage record information below.
Marriage:
Mar. 4, 1897 to August Karl Kick (aka August Charley Kieck)
A Marquette Co., WI, marriage record (Vol. 3, p. 93) says that August Karl Kick married Bertha Krüger on Mar. 4, 1897 in Mecan, Marquette Co., WI. The groom's parents were listed as August Kick and Bertha Rack (or Raek - handwriting in record hard to read). His wife's parents were Karl Krüger and Henriette Mietz (or Meietz - again this was hard to read). Bertha Krüger was born in the town of Marquette, Green Lake, WI. The groom's residence was Mecan. The wedding ceremony was performed in the Evangelical Lutheran Church in Mecan by Rev. W.C. Rowold. Witnesses were Wilhelm Bornick and Wilhelm Bliefnick.

August Charley Kieck's World War I registration card dated Sept. 12, 1918 says that his wife was Bertha Gusta Kieck.

Child 1:
Herman August Kieck
June 8, 1900
A Marquette Co., WI, Evangelical Lutheran Church baptismal record said Herman August Kieck was born June 8, 1900 and baptized June 11, 1900 in their house. Her parents were listed as August Kick Jr. and Bertha Krueger. Baptismal sponsors were Friedrich Klawitter and Olga Oehlke. [SOURCE: Online transcription of record by David and Alice Marotz]

A family member who knew Herman's parents told me that they had four "blue babies" who died young. Herman may be one of those children.

Child 2, 3 & 4:
Unknown
If family oral history is correct, four children died as infants (blue babies). A small tombstone near August and his wife's graves says "Infant Son of A.C. and B.G. Kieck." This could be one of the blue babies.
Child 5:
Clara Bertha Kick
Oct. 15, 1904 in Mecan
A Marquette Co., WI, Evangelical Lutheran Church baptismal record said Clara Bertha Kick was born Oct. 15, 1904 in Mecan, Marquette Co., WI, and baptized Oct. 23, 1904 in their house. Her parents were listed as August Kick and Bertha Krueger. Baptismal sponsors were Herman Schultz and Minna Kick. [SOURCE: Online transcription of record by David and Alice Marotz] Clara appears on the 1905 Wisconsin Census with her parents.
A family member who knew her said she lived in Omro, WI. A 1930 Federal Census in Washburn, Bayfield Co., WI, shows Clara may have been a boarder in a farmer's house [the age matches]:
  • head of household: George House (age 54, age when married is given but hard to read - could be 37, born in New York, father born in New York, mother born in Germany, farmer)
  • his wife Goldie House (age 41, age when married given but hard to read - could be 37 or 27, born in Indiana, parents born in Indiana)
  • boarder Clara Kieck (age 25, single, born in Wis., parents born in Wis., public school teacher)
Child 6:
Alfred William Kieck
b. Oct. 2, 1906
See Alfred Kieck's web page for more information on his life.
Child 7:
Elsie A. Kieck
A family member who knew her said she was a child of August and his wife Bertha. She shows up on the 1910 and 1920 census with her parents (see below). This individual also said Elsie lived in Racine, WI.
Child 8:
Walter A. Kieck
A family member who knew him said he was a child of August and his wife Bertha. He appears on the 1920 and 1930 census with his parents (see below). A relative told me that Walter lived in Racine, WI. (see photo.)
Child 9:
Irene M. Kieck
A family member who knew her said she was a child of August and his wife Bertha. She appears in the 1920 and 1930 census with her parents (see below). A relative told me that Irene lived in DeForest, WI, and was married to Clarence Robarge.

Misc. Note:
Also known as Bertha Kick Jr.
Bertha Kick, Jr. was named as a sponsor in an Aug. 17, 1901 baptism in the Evangelical Lutheran Church in Marquette Co., WI. The baptism was on Lena Alice Schulz [father: Herman Schulz; mother: Anna Kuhnert] from Mecan. The other sponsor was Wilhelm Jürgens. [SOURCE: Record transcription online by David and Alice Marotz]

This suggests that there was a Bertha Kick, Sr., which may refer to Bertha Kick, Jr.'s mother-in-law.
