Born:
1643		 Josiah Jones [Sr.] was born in Roxbury in 1643. [SOURCE: George A. Cunningham who did research in the 1800's on the Jones family.]
Parents:
Lewis Jones and Anna [Stone ?]		 George A. Cunningham's research in the 1800's concludes that Josiah's parents were Lewis Jones and Anna Stone. I have reason to doubt this conclusion.

Cunningham wrote the following: He [Lewis] "married in 1624 Anna Stone, born in England in 1608, daughter of Deacon Simon and Jane Stone, who embarked at London, England, April 15, 1635 in the ship "Increase," Robert Lea, Master, and settled in Watertown, Mass. Anna died May 1, 1680 at the age of 72 years."

This does not make sense. The passenger list of the "Increase" says Anna was age 11 in 1635 when the ship arrived. The Anna who married Lewis would, therefore, have been born about 1624. She died in 1680 at the age of 72, which does not add up.

Marriage:
Married Lydia Treadway		 Josiah married Lydia Treadway on Oct. 2, 1667 in Watertown, MA. Lydia was born in Watertown on Aug. 3, 1646 (the daugher of Nathaniel and Sufferana Treadway). She died in Weston on Sept. 16, 1743 at the age of 97. They had 12 children. The second child and oldest son was Josiah Jones. [George A. Cunningham's research in the 1800's.]

Misc. Notes:
Captain in Militia, Selectman and Church Deacon		 "Josiah was a Selectman of Watertown in 1685, 86, 87, 90, 1702, 09. was admitted a freeman Apr. 18, 1690. In 1709, he removed to Weston [MA], where he was a Captain in the militia, was one of the original members and the first Deacon of the church of Weston, to which office he was elected Jan. 4, 1710.
Died:
Oct. 9, 1714		 Josiah died in Weston, MA, on Oct. 9, 1714 at the age of 71 years. [SOURCE: George A. Cunningham who did research in the 1800's on the Jones family.]
